A Silk Wrap Nail Manicure is similar to Acrylic Powder but does not use a thick formula known as the bead. The process of a Silk Wrap Manicure is that first the nail surface is filed, then the tip is applied, and on top of the nails, where normally the bead would be applied, the wrap is applied, which is a pre-made silk wrap, which the manicurist adjusts to the size of your nail shape. Two layers of thin white fabric are applied to the nails, a special glue is applied to the wrap, and then the wrap is applied to the nails. It is trimmed to fit the nail, and then buffed after. Then after, regular nail polish is painted over the wrap. The nails are much harder and stronger after the Silk Wrap is applied. The nail polish after about a week will start to chip, so once again repainting is another thing that comes into play throughout the weeks. A fill is necessary after about 2 weeks. The nails can be either soaked or peeled off. After the removal, the nails should be at a strong state, and should not be heavily damaged. The cost of this manicure can range between $25-$40 depending on where they are done.
