People are always trying to achieve having soft, clear, and healthy looking skin. One way to have softer and clearer, nicer looking skin is through exfoliating. Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells that are layered on top of skin. It is done through scrubs containing beads/sugar/salt granules, loofah/exfoliating glove, or natural bristled brushes. Exfoliating can be done to the face, or body. Different scrubs have descriptions if the scrub is for the body or face. Note: Don't use a body scrub for the face because it could cause redness and irritation since the body scrubs are usually designed to be more rough, since they are used on the body rather than the delicate skin on the face. And same thing goes for the face scrubs, they may be too light to remove the dead skin cells on the body. The process of exfoliating includes washing or rinsing with water the skin that is to be exfoliated. Then when using the scrub, apply a quarter amount to the skin and rub in a circular motion until the granules disappear. Afterwards, rinse once more, and after apply lotion or moisturizer to hydrate the skin. Exfoliating the face helps prevent breakouts because in the process, the dead skin is removed as well as the dirt and oil, which keeps the skin clearer and healthier. It evens out skin tone, since when the dead layer of skin is removed, the even toned skin underneath shows. It is recommended to exfoliate your body and skin twice a week max, since it is important as well not to strip away too many natural oils. Exfoliating also minimizes the appearance of large pores, promotes a closer shave, reduces the appearance of dark spots or age spots, allows moisturizer to work better, and can even reduce stress. All in all, there are many benefits to exfoliating, and it is a good idea to add it to your skin routine weakly, since the results are worth it!
