Acrylics are nails known most often as fake nails or fake tips. Acrylics are prepped by roughing the nail surface, and applying the nail tip, followed by applying a "bead" which is a thick clear formula that is spread using powder to evenly apply. The bead can be clear, light pink, or pearl/white. Afterwards, the nail is clipped and shaped into either square, round, oval, squoval, coffin/ballerina, almond, or stiletto. After, they are painted either gel or regular polish, and dried. A full set of acrylics can cost between $30-$75 depending on where you get them done, and if you include any extra designs or add-ons. Acrylics can last 3-5 weeks until a fill is needed. A fill is adding the bead to the set, when the nail grows out, and can cost between $10-$20 depending on the salon. If you do not get a fill, the acrylics can last even up to 2 months before they break off, but may look unappealing since a lot of the nail will have grown by that time. The nail gets very damaged after since the nail surface is thinned out and the nail plate is very damaged. To remove the acrylics you can either go to the salon to use acetone and soak them off or peel them off when you see that they start to peel.
